Divorce mediation and Post-Divorce Mediation

Divorce is the legal dissolution of a marriage. The process of divorce will mean that many changes occur in the lives of all family members, both nuclear and extended.

Divorce mediation is the process of dissolving a marriage in a non-adversarial manor. In this process a neutral third party (the Mediator) assists the clients in reaching a mutually accepted agreement to the resolution of their conflict.

Although the process of mediation is referred to as being non-adversarial this does not mean that the importance and impact of the party’s emotions are ignored.

Divorce Mediation will cover all relevant issues that the clients wish to discuss. But the following 5 areas are recommended at a minimum:

Couples Mediation ...........................................

This mediation is similar to divorce mediation in that it is the process of dissolving the couple’s relationship in a non-adversarial manor. The big difference here is that the couple is not legally married.

Very often the issues that unmarried couples bring to mediation are the same as those of married couples.

Couples mediation usually occurs when the couple has children, however even if the couple do not have children mediation is a positive alternative to conflict resolution.

Family Mediation ...........................................

Family mediation occurs in a family environment where there are issues that require mediation to resolve. There is no restriction on what issues can be dealt with in mediation as long as all parties concerned remember, that mediation is a voluntary process and in order to achieve the best possible chance for success all parties concerned must voluntarily agree to the mediation.
